The Mushroom Picker

Written and illustrated by photographer David Robinson, ‘The Mushroom Picker’ tells the story of Penny Bun and her friends as she escapes ‘The Picker’s’ annual harvest. Using a cameraless process to create the images — known as ‘luminograms’ — the results are mysterious and dark. Working closely with David to manipulate the images so they flowed as one with the text, we also used a sharp, angular typeface to lend further weight to the cruel character that is the elusive Mushroom Picker.
