Established in 2013, Handvaerk is an artisan label based in New York, USA. Founded by Esteban Saba and his wife Petra Brichnacova they produce a curated collection of luxury everyday essentials. We were approached to head up their brand art direction and re-design their website. The brief was to introduce warmth to the previous crisp and somewhat cold aesthetic, and inject more personality into their overall look and feel. The website was re-designed and built from scratch with an efficient, functional approach to user experience, which mirrors the brand‘s minimalist design. Typographically, we married the straight lines of Suisse with the quirks of Portrait to further reflect Handvaerk’s ethos and persona. We also carried out a complete overhaul of the brand’s imagery – introducing refined locations with more laid back, graceful styling to soften the previously stark image aesthetic. Across 2 separate shoots, we created new campaign editorial and product shots to establish an approachable, universal visual appeal that properly reflects the Handvaerk brand.
