Film Co-Direction•Creative Direction
Matouk is a 3rd generation family-owned luxury bedding and bath linen brand based in Providence, USA. It is the largest (and the last) American textile company of its kind. Approached to conceive and create a film and series of images for their relaunched website, the brief required us to balance two aspects of the Matouk story, the practical – their fine quality, family heritage and factory/making process; as well as the emotional – the feeling of home, which they aim to instil in their products. Forming a concept based on ‘the senses’, with the arc of a family gathering at its core, we united those two strands of storytelling by also showing the products at various stages of production. Shooting in the US over the course of 3 days, we co-directed the film with English director Tom Merilion, working with a local crew, and casting actors from both New York City and Boston. The film was edited by Struan Clay at Final Cut and graded at The Mill in London.
